Lead by Enable Leisure and Culture, with partnership investment from London Borough of Wandsworth and developers in the Nine Elms Vauxhall Partnership, Cultivate is engaging young people aged 7-19 in the large-scale transformation happening at Nine Elms on the South Bank through culture. The programme coordinates creative projects offered to schools through the redevelopment, to meet needs and maximise impact for young people.

Originally receiving £85,000 investment from AND across two years, an additional £30,000 has been agreed to extend the work to March 2018.

Through their work connecting local schools with creative and place-making careers opportunities, linking in with the Nine Elms development, Cultivate have noticed a need for stronger guidance about creative career opportunities. They will, therefore, develop their Cultivate Routes strand, working with schools to support learning about opportunities in the creative sector.

In addition, across this final year the team will consolidate evaluation and build a case study of young people’s cultural learning through regeneration, which will consider an approach transferable to other areas undergoing redevelopment
