Primary Arts Schools Consultation Group

For London primary SEND and mainstream staff passionate about arts, culture, and creativity in education

A New Direction is looking for staff working in SEND and mainstream primary settings in London who have a passion and interest in the arts, culture and creativity in education to join our Primary Arts Schools Consultation Group for the 2025/26 academic year.

The role of this group is to support the continued development of the Primary Arts Programme to ensure it meets the needs of children and education professionals in SEND and mainstream primary schools across London.

The group will meet four times across the year and will give you the opportunity to influence the delivery of our large-scale Primary Arts programme. Meetings will take place in cultural venues across the capital where you will have the time to network, share expertise and develop your understanding of the role of creativity in schools.

We want this group to represent the needs of pupils, teachers and support staff. To support this, we are looking for people with a range of teaching and support experience, from SEND and mainstream schools, from inner and outer London boroughs and in a variety of roles.

We welcome expressions of interest from:

  • Early Career Teachers
  • Teachers from Reception, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2
  • Special Needs teachers working in primary SEND settings
  • SENDCos
  • Art/ Music/ Drama/ Dance Specialists who are employed by a Primary School
  • Senior Leaders
  • Support Staff

Anyone invited to be part of the group will need to commit to attending all meetings and doing some small gap tasks between meetings such as trialling a resource in the classroom.

Up to £450 is available per school to cover staff time to attend meetings and complete tasks.

Participants will also receive:

  • An invitation to our launch event in September 2025

To express your interest in joining the Schools Consultation Group, please complete the online Expression of Interest form – this should take about 10-15 minutes. Please submit your form by 5pm on Wednesday 18 June 2025.
