From 27 to 30 March 2017, teachers from A New Direction's Special School network led an assortment of visual arts, music, soundscape and drama activity with their students, with Rauschenberg being a big inspiration.

During the week, Studio Wayne McGregor also took the students on an exploration of the space and their own physicality through dance and movement.

The space was open each afternoon for the public to come and find out more about the work and the schools.

Throughout the week the public also had the opportunity to:

  • Take part in a dance workshop led by Studio Wayne McGregor
  • Join The Vale Special School band
  • Watch a dance performance by St Giles Special School
  • Discuss and debate the issues and opportunities around access to the arts for young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Discover more about London’s creative and cultural offer for young people with SEND

This event was programmed by A New Direction and Studio Wayne McGregor, Tate Exchange Associates.
