Croydon Cultural Education Partnership

Enabling young people to contribute to the cultural life of Croydon

The Croydon Cultural Education Partnership is a network of local partners that include Croydon’s schools, cultural organisations and services for children and young people. Croydon Music and Arts is the lead organisation for Croydon’s Cultural Education Partnership and Music Education Hub.

Croydon Music and Arts (CMA) carried out two youth consultation studies which led to the formation theCroydon Youth Arts Collective(CYAC), a group of young arts ambassadors for the borough. CMA formed the Croydon Local Cultural Education Partnership in order to come up with ways to respond to what young people have been telling us.

Aims:

  • To celebrate, share and pass on our diverse cultural heritage
  • To enable children and young people to develop their cultural identity and their own artistic language
  • To contribute to their development and achievement
  • To enable children and young people to contribute to the cultural life of their communities and of Croydon

The Croydon Cultural Education Partnership is receiving investment for Croydon Rising through Challenge London, A New Direction’s partnership investment programme from 2018-2022.

Croydon Rising is a reactive programme that will respond to the themes from the past three years of information gathering about how to improve the quality of cultural learning in Croydon; to include impact measurement, schools programmes and support with young people’s progression routes.

Challenge London investment from A New Direction: £75,000 over three years
