Flipside

A paid, industry-led bootcamp introducing the basics in digital product design

Flipside is designed for young people with a keen interest in building a career in digital design. It aims to help you gain the skills, mindset, and behaviors young people need to break into the industry.

Career progression is the main driving force behind Flipside. It was designed in 2018 by A New Direction, who also operates the Hackney Wick-based space generating creative skills for youth; the Good Growth Hub, and is made and delivered in collaboration with digital design industry leaders Bynd, Made by Many, Sennep, The Skills Lab, and ustwo.

The 4th iteration of the programme will take place January – March 2023.

  • How can you support Flipside?  

    Each year, a group of leading agencies commit to teaching the core modules of the Flipside curriculum. They take the Flipsiders through a series of modules that teach them the basics of digital design.

    The modules take place inside each agency, welcoming the Flipsiders, and introducing them to agency life.

    Past principal agencies include: ustwo, BYND, Made by Many, Farfetch, Normally, Publicis Sapient, Bio Agency, PixeledEggs

This programme is delivered by the Good Growth Hub – a creative careers hub in East London run by A New Direction. Part of the London Legacy Development Corporation’s plan to connect businesses surrounding east London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park with local talent through a wide range of employment, skills, and enterprise activities and programmes. The Hub is funded by the LLDC with investment from the Foundation for Future London, through the East Bank Partnerships’ New Talent Future Leaders programme towards the growth of STEP and other projects. The Good Growth Hub is operated by A New Direction.
