Case Study: Area-wide creative change

How can a project embed the arts across multiple schools and settings?

These case studies detail strategic initiatives that have sought to embed creative change on a larger scale, across schools a regional area, within a Multi Academy Trust or creating a network of virtual schools. They have joined forces and collaborated with the creative sector in a way that creates an aligned offer or strategic approach for the wider benefit of pupils.

About these Case Studies

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (UK Branch)’s report The Arts in Schools (1982), A New Direction commissioned this suite of case studies as a companion piece to new research by Pauline Tambling and Sally Bacon that reflects on arts and education 40 years since this seminal report. The new report will be released in March 2023.
