Connecting Countries: London to Vancouver

A film of a group of Secondary School students who journey to Vancouver for the 2010 Winter Paralympic Games.

A partnership project with Stoke Newington Secondary School and A New Direction. Film by Johnny Lais, 2010

This 11 minute film documents a group of Year 10 students from Stoke Newington Secondary School who were selected to go to Vancouver for the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games. The students witness for themselves what it is like to be an Olympic host city and to experience the Games first hand.

The young people narrate their own experiences utilising poetry, blogging and film footage from interviews with their Canadian peers, Paralympians and Games officials to describe the journey they took and what they learnt.

The value of cultural exchanges and international perspectives is clear as the young people reflect on their own city as a host with new found understanding of another place.
