Embodying Maths - cross-curricular learning with Complicite and Torriano Prima… - 20 November 2017
At Torriano Primary School we are hosting a twilight INSET session for primary school teachers and beyond to share our learning on how the arts can enhance learning of core academic subjects and how schools can join the Artsmark journey.
Torriano Primary School were part of a research project with Complicite theatre group for two years where we developed our understanding of how the arts can improve confidence, resilience and reasoning skills in maths for all children.
Many of the activities are ensemble based and are designed to provide an inclusive environment for children to explore what numbers 'feel' like through movement and dance.
A member of A New Direction's Artsmark team will be on hand to give a short introduction to the award and offer support to schools already on the journey or interested in finding out more. A process overview and all the key documents and guidance will be available to take away.
