South West London Digital Programme

Developing a digital strategy across South West London Music Education Partnership informed by pupil voice

In 2021/22, South West London Music Education Partnership was granted funding to conduct a survey about our young people’s attitudes to and use of music technologies to support their wider musical learning. Pupils told us they wanted to understand more about what was available, understand how to use this and be able to collaborate with others to support their own creativity. They wanted a single safe place where they could find this information and hear how what others were doing.

The Legacy Funding awarded by A New Direction will enable us to deliver on this. Working in partnership with Roland, Roehampton and artists within the seven areas, we will:

  • Create a microsite with a collection of short films and vlogs from artists and signpost young people and schools to this.
  • Work with partners to develop and share accessible technologies to support those who, due to disabilities, are unable to access studios etc.
  • Work with Roland’s featured artists to develop a series of vlogs.
  • Explore how this might support those unable to access musical pathways at school.
  • Encourage young people to develop a digital portfolio of their work.

We may also learn more about what pathways from informal learning into the industry may look like.
