STEP is a programme offering paid twelve-month jobs comprised of two internships in two different areas of the Creative Industries.

7 lucky east London applicants were chosen to take part in the programme, and are all currently working on their first internship placements. They will all be blogging about their experiences as the programme progresses - Click here to find out more about the STEP programme and check the blog section for more posts soon.

I can’t believe I’ve completed my first internship placement at Sadler’s Wells. It sounds cliché but it feels like only yesterday that I first introduced myself as a Visitor Experience Intern.

Looking back at my time at Sadler’s Wells, the highlight for me was when I shadowed dressers during matinee and the evening performances of Matthew Bourne’s Cinderella.

It was so great to see all of the hard work that I do in the office, like liaising with security and dealing with queries from Front of House, all supports a bigger cause.

Shadowing the dressers was such a valuable experience. Prior to this opportunity, I never knew that so much hard work goes into making performers look good before they go on stage. I had no idea what level of preparation goes into maintaining that costume between every performance.

I am truly so happy and grateful that I am on this programme because I am sure that I would never have been able to get an insight like that.

Looking forward to the next 6 months, I am so excited to be the next Producing and Touring Intern!
