Kensington Palace: A Palace Princess

Discover Queen Victoria’s birthplace and centuries of royal life, exploring the magnificent King’s and Queen’s State Apartments.

Bookings open at 8am on Wednesday 4 February 2026.

Kensington Palace: A Palace Princess is suitable for SEND only.

About the offer

What was it like for Queen Victoria growing up in Kensington Palace?

Pupils will explore the palace in which Victoria spent her childhood, learn about some of her favourite toys and pastimes and experience some of the sounds and smells of the time. Through a sensory story, they will learn about the strict ‘Kensington System’ which she grew up in, the gardens where she spent her time and the animals that kept her company.

The session is flexible according to the needs of your pupils but can involve interactive storytelling, drama-based activities, games and smells. This session is suitable for students with MLD, SLD and PMLD, aged between 6 and 16 years. Please note that the presenter will be in costume unless requested otherwise by the school.

This offer includes self-guided access to the palace before or after your guided visit.

Historic Royal Palaces

We are the independent charity that loves and looks after six of the most wonderful palaces in the world.

The palaces are the setting for the stories that shape us all. We want everyone to find themselves in the spaces and stories we share.

Through Primary Arts, schools can visit Hampton Court Palace, Kensington Palace or the Tower of London. Each palace offers two facilitated sessions, one for mainstream classes and one for SEND classes.

Every visit includes self-guided access to the palace before or after your guided visit.
