Flipside 2024

3-month paid, industry-led bootcamp in Digital Product Design

Flipside is a 3-month industry-led skills training and talent development programme designed for young East Londoners interested in building a career in digital design.

The programme is uniquely co-created and co-delivered in partnership with some of the UK's leading digital design agencies including Beyond, Made by Many, Normally, Digitas, Publicis Sapient and ustwo.

Each curriculum is experiential, practical, and collaborative, and responds to a live brief set by an industry client, enabling its participants to learn from designers and gain the skills, mindset, and behaviours needed to break into the digital sector. Skills workshops and personal career coaching incrementally introduce the foundations of technical and practical design skills, networks, and industry insights needed to build digital products – with the goal to secure paid work and long-term sustainable careers in the industry. Career progression remains the driving force behind Flipside.

Taking place at the Good Growth Hub, Flipside enables Londoners aged 19-30 to start a career in the innovative and ever-growing sector of Digital Product Design. As an intensive bootcamp over 12 weeks, the course is ideal for anyone with existing design education or experience needing a practical application for their knowledge; to those brand new to the sector exploring new skills and considering a career path in digital product design.

Upon completing 12 weeks of industry-led training, participants can interview for digital design placements with our growing community of leading digital design agencies. 80% of course graduates have gone onto secure roles at leading design agencies including BIO agency, Made by Many, BYND and Farfetch, ustwo & Wunderman Thompson.

A New Direction – who operates the Good Growth Hub – first launched Flipside in 2018. Flipside is delivered as part of the Skills Bootcamps for Londoners for those aged 19+ to progress into work by giving them access to in-demand skills training and a guaranteed interview for a more sustainable, higher-skilled job and higher wages over time.
