What Is Your London?

For many, the idea of London conjures up postcard pictures: the London Eye, Buckingham Palace. However, these depictions of the capital that we’re used to seeing in the media, advertising and the press are outdated. That isn’t the reality for young people living here today. London is nothing without the people that live in it, and each individual has their own story to tell so the participants of Creativity Works: Visual Storytelling were briefed with showing the world what their version of London is, to let the world see their perspective.

This is Victoria's London...

We Move

Victoria is a Nigerian-American who spent the past year completing a Masters degree at Imperial College London. For her, life in London had been centered around balancing an academic and social life. Her mantra for the year was ‘we move’ which is the concept she chose to explore in response to the brief.

According to the Urban Dictionary, ‘we move’ is an expression which means “carrying on regardless of the situation”. To convey this, Victoria recreated situations where she applied this mantra, and which she felt viewers could relate to.

The Enjoy Your Life t-shirt was a particularly deliberate styling choice. Enjoy Your Life is the title of the debut album by the musician, Lady Donli. The album serves as a reminder to take pleasure in the little things and to take life one day at a time. This ties in with the theme as Victoria believes that it is important to balance enjoyment and hard work.
