Creativity Works: LDNXY!

The 19th July was not only one of the hottest days this year but it also marked the first #LDNXY event!

4 August 2016

A mixture of the tan worthy heat, candyfloss, Metcalfe’s popcorn, freshly oven baked pizza, jerk chicken AND free drinks upon entry – meant this was the place to be. Over 400 tickets were sold for the event and the soulful music and delicious aroma of food drew in many Tottenham locals who wanted to join in on the fun too.

Loven Presents and Tator’s Kitchen provided enticing food for everyone and for anyone craving a sweet after delight, LDNXY staff were serving up candyfloss, popcorn and sweets.

There were fourteen artists on the bill, all with different genres and vibes, ready to get everyone into the party mood and by the end of the night everyone was getting into the groove. These included grime artists, singer songwriters and even spoken word poets: J Lavaly, Kirsty Louise, Eklipse, BVKVRE and Fred Fredas.

The event was the culmination of 6 weeks of intense training, workshops and work experience at festivals all over the UK. These included Field Day, Love Supreme, Walthamstow Garden Party, Latitude, Wireless, Lovebox, Shoreditch Fringe and Citadel. Their hard work and dedication to the programme also led to 22 participants achieving an Arts Award Silver!

It’s always a joy to deliver the Creativity Works programme on behalf of the Mayor’s Fund, and A New Direction’s Create Jobs team couldn’t be more proud of what everyone on the course achieved. The next step for LDNXY will be to carry on putting together brilliant events in London!

Creativity Works is funded by the Mayor’s Fund for London, supported by Berkeley Foundation and delivered in partnership with A New Direction and Create.
