Join our Cultural Leadership Community 17/18
A New Direction (AND) invites London teachers to apply to be part of our Cultural Leadership Community cohort for 2017-18
The programme will be led by award-winning cultural producers and facilitators, Nimble Fish, with close support from the AND team.
The Cultural Leadership Community (CLC) was created to help enable London teachers to take a leading role in ensuring that all young Londoners have access to the arts and culture in their educational lives. The CLC programme will build participants’ understanding of the impact and importance of cultural education on a London-wide, national and international level. Via a bespoke research project supported by CPD and mentoring, participants will also actively develop the cultural education offer in their own school.
Successful applicants to the Cultural Leadership Community will participate in a year-long programme of bespoke CPD (five sessions), with the first session running as a full day, and subsequent sessions delivered as half-days. A closed social media network will support the development of the cohort between sessions along with one to one consultation with Nimble Fish around key issues and opportunities for participants in the context of their interests as cultural leaders.
In the first CPD session, all CLC participants will develop an outline for an action research project they will complete by the end of the programme. This work will be supported in subsequent CPD sessions, via the closed social media network, and through one-to-one development sessions with Nimble Fish. To support their project, participants will also have preferred access to a variety of opportunities through A New Direction, including conferences, workshops and other development opportunities.
The Cultural Leadership Community programme is highly competitive, with more applicants than places. Previous CLC participants have been lead speakers at conferences, developed and delivered symposia, and created new cultural offers within their school networks. Many CLC participants have also used the programme as a key stepping stone in their own career development.
Applicants to the Cultural Leadership Community will have a demonstrable passion and interest in the arts and culture and can articulate experience with positive educational change via the arts and culture. Applicants don't need to be arts specialists but must be able to commit to full participation in all programme dates.
If you have any questions about the programme, please email Laura Fuller, Senior Programme Manager.
