We are recruiting a Freelance Visual Artist/Illustrator
We are recruiting a Freelance Visual Artist/Illustrator
20 January 2012
Stratford Explorers is a Heritage Lottery funded project managed by A New Direction. 60 pupils from two local primary schools are working with Stratford residents from local community groups to explore the changes to Stratford within living memory, focussing particularly on the architectural and industrial history of the area.
Working with Eastside Community Heritage, pupils will interview residents and gather oral histories about the area. These, together with research undertaken at the London Transport Museum, Museum of London Docklands, and through the local archive, will form the basis of an illustrated heritage guided walk leaflet, and an accompanying exhibition of the pupils’ work.
We are looking for a freelance illustrator or visual artist with experience of working with primary age pupils to support museum visits and run a series of in-school workshops developing the guided walk and exhibition, and to produce the final piece of work. The work is planned to take place between mid February and end May 2012 (with the majority taking place mid March – end May), with the leaflet to be produced by the end of June. We will also be developing a KS2 resource to accompany the project, for launch in September along with the exhibition.
Workshop dates are available on request.
