The exhibition is a reflection of the closure of JHQ military Garrison through the eyes of a Year 13 Children’s Service Education Arts Award Gold student.
The preview evening is the launch of a month long exhibition at the school. The photographs will then be auctioned and proceeds will go to The
Afghan Appeal Fund. This fund is a military charity for soldiers to
build schools for Afghan children.
A New Direction has worked in partnership with
Service Children's Education (SCE) since 2009, delivering creative programmes in a number of SCE schools in Germany through the Creative Partnerships programme. SCE has also supported hundreds of young people from it's schools through the Arts Award and are now the largest Arts Awards Centre, with the most awards outside of England.
About Service Children's Education (SCE)
Service Children’s Education (SCE) is an Agency of the Ministry of Defence (MoD), and is dedicated to the education of the children of Her Majesty's Armed Forces, MoD Personnel and sponsored organisations stationed overseas. It seeks to provide a first class system of schools and educational support services and aims to provide an effective and efficient education service, from Foundation Stage through to sixth form, to enable children to benefit from their residence abroad.
JHQ Rheindahlen houses the Headquarters for the United Kingdom Support Command which is the administrative head quarters of the British Army in Europe. JHQ was built in the early 1950s to meet the need for a Headquarters for the British Occupation Forces following the end of World War II. It now forms the Rhine Garrison with Elmpt Station.
