BigLopFest

Celebration of 'The Biggest Learning Opportunity on Earth' programme, BigLopFest was a week of free activities at three venues across central London for children, young people, their teachers and families, and took place between 25 June and 01 July.

The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games are the biggest spectacle in the world with a global audience of nearly 5 billion people. Nothing like it in London will happen again. Something so big is more than just a sporting festival – it’s a moment for the world to reflect on itself.

Last summer we began a project called ‘The Biggest Learning Opportunity on Earth’ (BigLop). The aim of ‘BigLop’, was  to bring together arts organisations and schools across London to explore the Games in different ways. To explore the changing landscape of London and stories that make up the city. To explore its connections to the  rest of the world and dream of better worlds and new possibilities.

Some amazing things have happened, and BigLopFest – a week of free activities at three fully accessible venues across central London for children, young people and their teachers and families – was our way of sharing them with you.

The London 2012 Games should make it easier for us to do things that would otherwise have not been possible. We hope that this guide and the activities in it are a step to help you do that in your school.
