About
Would you like to look inside a special box which stores the memories of an amazing event? Could this help you to make your own new celebration and then save the memories in your own box for others to see?
Pupils used archive materials from past site-specific theatre shows to create their own celebratory event, and then archived their event for other people to use.

Brent Schools participated in this programme with generous support from Wembley Stadium. |
The schools:
Barnet
The Compton School – a Year 8 drama class produced a promenade performance to staff and Year 7 pupils around the school building, and a sound piece featuring interviews of staff which told the story of the Olympic announcement on 06 July 2005, and the bombings in London the following day.
Brent
Wembley Primary School – Year 3 pupils researched their own family stories, showing examples of the seven Olympic Values. They constructed ‘Guardians of the Seven Olympic Values’ from found objects and wrote songs for them. The Guardians are now on display in the school hall.
Enfield
Winchmore School – drama students took inspiration from LIFT’s 2001 show ‘Bucchetino’, to create a radio play about a character called ‘Unknown’, who travels around the world in order to attend the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Lambeth
The Elmgreen School – a year 7 class invented their own countries with an elected Ambassador and devised a global citizenship ceremony for visitors from a local primary school.
Lewisham
St Mary Magdalen’s Catholic Primary School – Year 4 and 5 Gifted and Talented group and the school council investigated their school archive, creating stories inspired by each of the Olympic Values, and telling their stories to the pupils, teachers and invited parents and past school students.
Redbridge
Winston Way Primary School – one Year 5 group celebrated the 19 languages spoken in their class group, by collecting objects from each of the 206 countries potentially competing in the London 2012 Games. They housed the objects in a willow den (“Twigloo”) and performed a welcoming ceremony to guests who attended the opening.
Wandsworth
Chestnut Grove School – inspired by LIFT’s 2009 show ‘Urban Dream Capsules’ about four men who lived in a shop window, A Level Art students created an installation in the glass display cabinets at the entrance to their school which they personally inhabited at break times and afterschool.
