About
This project set out to ask ‘What would your message to the
world be?’ by exploring the seven Olympic Values of friendship,
courage, equality, determination, excellence, respect and inspiration
through a range of art forms.
Participants focused on issues that they felt passionately
about, to express what matters to them most and learn what is important
to their peers abroad. Using the seven Olympic Values, young people were
challenged and asked to consider their role in creating a stronger
community, and to create a personal messages about what matters to them,
using visual art, drama, dance, photography and film.
The schools:
Bexley
Westbrooke School – students explored
the Olympic Value ‘courage’ using drama to explore how they would face
their fears through the power of their imaginations.
Croydon
Castle Hill Primary School – pupils selected ‘equality’ as inspiration for designing and creating a mosaic.
Croydon
Harris Academy South Norwood – students used the theme of ‘respect’ to develop an original script which they storyboarded and filmed.
Croydon
Parish Church CoE Nursery and Infant School – pupils journeyed to the Antarctic, the streets of London and into hot deserts to explore what friendship means to them.
Enfield
Latymer All Saints CE Primary School – students wrote poetry on the theme of excellence to produce a film demonstrating their own unique talents.

Lavender Primary School – students created ‘Determination Man’ and used a mixture of art forms to create a final story.
Enfield
Merryhills Primary School – students from all classes created a “Respect Fair” where visitors took part in a number of activities.
Hounslow
Cranford Community College – students used the Olympic Values to produced a film to represent the best of their school.
Kensington and Chelsea
Chelsea Academy – each
student selected from a range of art forms, from dance and film, to
visual arts and even baking, to convey their message to the world.
Kingston Upon Thames
St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School – pupils learnt dances from around the word as a way of reflecting upon their global school community.
Lambeth
The Michael Tippett School – pupils explored ‘friendship’ through poetry within their school community, and the wider global community.
Merton
St Mark’s Church of England Academy – students created a series of short films exploring how the seven Olympic Values are reflected in their school community.
Redbridge
Chadwell Primary School – pupils worked with a spoken word artist to write their own poetry before turning them into visual images.
Redbridge
Mossford Green Primary School – students created a film of ‘friendship’ to share with their family and the local community.
Redbridge
Nightingale Primary School – pupils created movements and costumes inspired by ‘friendship’ and heroes performed at a Carnival Day.
Sutton
Glenthorne High School – students explored the Olympic Values through animation and shadow puppetry.
Tower Hamlets
Osmani Primary School – pupils explored language and performance in an effort to understand and communicate what ‘equality’ meant to them.
Tower Hamlets
Smithy Street Primary School – pupils used animation as an engaging way to understand ‘respect for differences’.
Westminster
Gateway Primary School – students spoke to inspirational members of their own community to explore aspiration.
