About
The Olympic Games are not just about sport, they are also about achievement. This project enabled young people to explore the dedication, resilience and passion of our sporting, local and cultural heroes to ask, ‘What does it take to get to the top and be respected by others?’
Each participating school worked with a professional filmmaker to train up a team of budding filmmakers equipped to devise, shoot and edit their own short film based on the topic of heroes, collected into jam jars and recipe books.
The schools:
Barking and Dagenham
Eastbrook School – students created a creepy story exploring what might happen if they were locked in the school after hours.
Barnet
Christ’s College Finchley – a film crew of students from each year group created a well-crafted and thoughtful film.
Ealing
Ravenor Primary School – the team made two films, which included most of the class being splattered with spaghetti!
Enfield
Addison House – 4 young people worked on sections of a portmanteau film about the qualities of heroes.
Havering
St Edward’s Church of England Primary School – 30 students rose to the challenge of filmmaking, showing brilliant focus and concentration.
Havering
St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School – 6 teams of 15 students created twominute films focusing on their Olympic heroes.

Christ Church C of E Primary School – Year 4 pupils used filmmaking to develop skills in working together and problem solving.

Rosendale Primary School – Year 5 worked together to create their films Think Before You Speak and Help Me!

Jubilee Primary School – two film crews, Years 3 & 4 and Years 5 & 6, worked to take their ideas from script to screen.

Jessop Primary School – Year 3 pupils made a film about famous author Bram Stoker rescuing a lady from drowning in the Thames.
Lewisham
Sandhurst Junior School – Year 4 developed their communication skills and worked together to create their own short fiction films.
Redbridge
Roding Primary School – Year 6 pupils created showed great promise in post-production whilst creating their films.

Redbridge Primary School – Year 5 students worked together to create The Origami Kid and The Wizards of Audrey Hepburn.

Trinity High School – Year 9 took part in a 1 day filmmaking project, with a smaller group developing their ideas further.
Waltham Forest
Heathcote School – 30 drama students worked together to shoot and edit their own short fiction films.
