Islington Arts and Media School, Islington
‘We are excited about becoming a School of Creativity because we feel it is a recognition of our efforts to put creative education at the very heart of what we deliver. It validates our aspiration to become a centre of excellence which will inspire our students to achieve the highest standards, model innovative practice and raise the profile of creative teaching and learning both locally and nationally.’
Judy Gemmell, Deputy Headteacher
IAMS has worked with Creative Partnerships since 2002 developing projects with creative professionals and organisations to enrich the curriculum. The school has a culture of embracing change in the best interests of the pupils.
Since 2007, the school, with Creative Partnerships support, has worked with media production company Somethin’ Else. Students have worked with radio professionals to create their own programmes and have used these new skills to raise the profile of student voice on the theme of their Building Schools for the Future programme.
As a School of Creativity, IAMS is looking forward to extending with its growing network of schools to share expertise and support best practice.
